IFCS - Senergy / Veolia Environnement
Veolia Environnement specializes in the following sectors: waste collection, landfill sites, waste incineration, hazardous waste treatment, transport (bus) etc.
Veolia currently employs more than 110,000 people around the world. The Veolia Asia head office is currently in Shanghai. It oversees all waste incineration operations in Asia. Veolia Asia does business in the following countries: China, Singapore, India, Japan, Taiwan, Macao, Hong-Kong, Thailand and Malaysia.
Veolia implemented the first version of Senergy in its Macao plant in 1995. After the software showed it could meet all the initial needs, it was then installed in the other plants of the group, the latest being in Shanghai.
This new incineration plant has a capacity of 1500 metric tons of waste per day. The incineration process is carried out using 2 turbine generators, a water purification plant, an inverse osmosis system, a water treatment station, a cooling unit and a pumping station. The building occupies 3.2 hectares.
At this stage of its development, Veolia needed software specifically dedicated to the management of maintenance operations, replacement part inventories and employees. In comparison with other software, Senergy was viewed as possessing the greatest flexibility and most adaptability, with the greatest ability to evolve with the business (e.g., Veolia recently installed a bar-code inventory management system integrated with Senergy). Senergy is also multilingual. Veolia uses the English language and Chinese characters in all its plants in China, and Thai or traditional Chinese characters in Thailand and Taiwan.
The maximum time necessary to install the software and of all its interfaces
is usually a week, but the process only takes 3 to 4 days in many plants. Senergy is customizable software. Data to be recorded (equipment, maintenance, inventories, etc.) can be prepared beforehand in different formats (Excel, Access, etc.) and be transferred directly to Senergy.
Maintenance activities can be entered one at the time. This procedure requires time, but offers the advantage for the people involved, to be able to adjust and fine-tune the parameters of each activity, although they may not have been previously completely validated. Senergy can be compared to a skeleton upon which the user builds a structure representing their organization. Users were totally operational with Senergy after 10 days of training and 2 to 3 weeks use. The training took place on site, using Veolia's material.
